Position Summary:

As a Land Development Planner, you will be responsible for evaluating, and overseeing the development of land use plans. Ensuring they comply with zoning regulations, environmental policies, and community needs. You will collaborate with various design professionals, including architects, engineers, government officials, and community members, to create sustainable and functional land use designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct site evaluations and analyze land characteristics, including topography, soil composition, and environmental impact.

Assist in the development of land use plans and zoning recommendations in accordance with local regulations, environmental considerations, and community goals.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to integrate land use plans into overall development projects.

Prepare reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate land use plans to design professionals, government agencies, and community stakeholders.

Participate in public meetings and hearings to gather input and address concerns from community members regarding proposed land use projects.

Stay current with zoning laws, environmental regulations, and urban planning trends to ensure compliance and best practices in land use planning.

Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to meet ownership expectations and project deadlines.

Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to assess the economic viability of proposed land use developments.

Promote sustainable land use practices and advocate for smart growth principles to enhance the long-term viability and resilience of communities.

Qualifications:

Preferred Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, or related field.

Previous experience in land use planning, urban design, or related field preferred.

Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Ability to review and modify plans using AutoCAD, Sketchup, Bluebeam, and Revit.

Comprehensive understanding of Excel (must be able to use correctly and create spreadsheets), Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and MS Project.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Knowledge of zoning codes, land development regulations, parking ratio requirements, traffic studies, civil engineering, infrastructure construction, building construction, and environmental policies.

Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or similar professional accreditation is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Office-based work with site visits and meetings with design professionals and ownership staff.

Occasional travel may be required to attend conferences, governmental staff meetings, or project sites.

Flexible work hours will be necessary to accommodate project deadlines and ownership needs.
